MUSCAT: Orpic along with its sales agent in Egypt, ACO Egypt For Petroleum & Petrochemicals Service , held the first petrochemical and petroleum conference under the theme of “Towards sustainable Oman–Egypt Partnership” which is held alongside the 16th International Middle East and Africa Exhibition for Plastic Industries (PLASTEX) 2018 in Cairo from January 18-21, 2018.

The conference was inaugurated by Khalid Abu al Makarem, Chairman of the Export Council for Chemicals and Fertilizers and in the presence of a number of Egyptian government officials, business experts, polymer business owners and media.

The conference was followed by an appreciation customer dinner hosted by Orpic and ACO. The dinner represents an ideal platform to meet with Orpic customers to highlight Orpic strategy and showcase the innovative polyolefin solutions and the many opportunities they create.

Gilles Rochas, Polymer Marketing GM — Orpic opened the conference with a welcoming remarks followed by a presentation on Orpic’s polymer products, grades and solutions. Abdulrahman Alim, CEO ACO Egypt For Petroleum & Petrochemicals Service took the stage then and commended the successful cooperation between Orpic and ACO to deliver quality polymer products to the Egyptian market.

Gilles emphasised on the importance of such events; leading to a continuous dialogue with Orpic customers; not only in Egypt but across Orpic’s networks worldwide. He commented: “There is no doubt that the Egyptian market has a strategic importance for Orpic. There are more than 3,000 converters in which Egypt import most of its polyethylene and polypropylene needs,”

A panel discussion represented by Orpic’s Polymer Marketing GM along with Orpic’s polymer sales team and ACO CEO was also held to address the needs and requirements of customers in Egypt, as well as to explore mutual interests and ways to boost trade relations to new heights.

“We are here to demonstrate our commitment to win customer preference and to present our polyethylene and polypropylene solutions to Egypt and the world; driven by Orpic’s vision to be a globally competitive, downstream business that Oman is proud of.” Gilles added.
