MUSCAT, March 5 -
The first Bride and Groom Awards were distributed at a glittering ceremony under the auspices of Maitha al Mahrouqi, Under-Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, on Monday.
Companies specialising in the wedding industry had been invited to nominate themselves in 15 categories. Winners were chosen in each category.
“The journey that we began six years ago towards projecting Oman as an ideal destination for weddings is fetching results and today I’m happy that Oman has garnered a name as a major wedding destination,” said Maitha al Mahrouqi.
“This is a major step towards the bigger goal of projecting Oman as the most ideal place for weddings as well as promoting it as a tourist attraction for films,” said Mohammed bin Saif al Riyami, Acting Director-General in the Department of External Offices, Ministry of Tourism.
The event, partnered by Tiara, brought out the first Bride & Groom Wedding Book on the occasion.
The book, with a directory section, catalogues the Oman’s wedding industry.
The event also showcased the work of Arushi Fashion Design with a bridal couture show, while Mon Cherie, an international brand, showcased its collection for bridesmaids and the bride’s mother.
The Bride and Groom Awards winners are: Age Credit Clinic (Best Beauty Clinic), Six Senses Spa (Best Women Spa), Grand Spa (Best Spa for Men), Rania (Best Bridal Gown Designer), Al Khayali International (Best Wedding Florist), Infin8 Creative (Best Wedding photographer), Business International Group (Best use of Technology at Wedding), Al Jarwani Hospitality (Wedding Caterer), Mosaic Events (Wedding Event Management), Los Clarita (Wedding Planner), Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa (Wedding Venue), Al Bustan Palace A Ritz Carlton Hotel (Outdoor Venue), Alila Jabal Akhder (Honeymoon Destination) and National Travel and Tourism Holidays (Tour Operator).
