SUR: Loans provided by the Sur branch of the Oman Development Bank (ODB) for 47 projects in the tourism sector in South Al Batinah Governorate between 2009 and November 2018 amounted to RO 5,466,200. This was to bolster private sector investments in the tourism ventures.
This was announced at a symposium organised by the bank under the auspices of Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Bahwan al Mukhaini, member of the State Council, at the Sur branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) on Sunday. Mohammed al Mukhaini, Director of ODB’s South Al Sharqiyah branch, said that the bank gave much importance to the tourism sector as other productive economic sectors and value added services, which contribute towards enriching investments in the areas and commercial activities.
He said the symposium was organised by the ODB in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and the OCCI’s Sur branch to highlight the tourism potential in the governorate. It was also meant for encouraging investors to take available opportunities.
