German sea rescue charity Mission Lifeline has been allowed to bring all 89 remaining migrants on board its ship, the Rise Above, ashore in southern Italy. Unlike with two other boats still as sea, this time the Italian authorities did not refuse permission to allow the rescued people to leave the ship.

They disembarked in the port of the city of Reggio Calabria, a spokesperson for the organisation said.

In the past few days, the vessel had taken on board a total of 95 people from boats in the Mediterranean, as the migrants tried to head from North Africa to Europe.
