Oman U-19 team defeat Palestine team in a friendly game

The Oman national under-19 football team defeated Palestine team 1-0 on Thursday night in a friendly match ahead of taking part at the 2022 Arab Cup U-20 Championship. At ROP stadium in Al Wattayah, Salim bin Khamis al Abri netted the winner prior the match end by five minutes. Both teams will repeat the warm up match on Saturday night at the same venue.


Oman team, coached by Spanish coach David Gordo, will play against Egypt and Somalia in group D at the 2022 Arab Cup U-20 Championship which will be held in Saudi Arabia from July 20 to August 5. The preparatory fixtures against Palestinian team will draw a clear picture for the Spanish coach and his assistant coaching staff on players readiness for the first official assignment. Moreover, the head coach will finalise the starting line up which will represent the team’s squad in the forthcoming Arabian event.


Several domestic camps took place during the past few months since appointment of Spanish coach David Gordo as head coach of the team earlier this year. The head coach affirmed to Oman Daily Observer in a previous statement that he will focus to establish a strong footballers and assist them to develop to become professional players in the near future.


On Friday, Coach David Gordo announced the squad of the team for the 2022 Arab Cup U-20 Championship. He opted 23 players including: Said al Adawi, Jawad al Azzi, Sultan al Marzouqi, Khalid al Sulaimi, Mohammed al Oufi, Salim al Shamakhi, Salim al Abdali, Said al Ghanbousi, Nasser al Saqri, Al Muhannadi al Abri, Al Muntaser al Maawali, Khalfan al Rudaini, Mamoon al Oraimi, Abdul Majeed al Balushi, Mohammed AbdulHakeem, Osama Faraj, Abdulaziz al al Khaldi, Ahed al Mashakhyi, Ali al Balushi, Mulhem al Hadharami, Al Motasim al Sameen, Mazin Saleh and Ayman al Nabhani.
