Muscat: The Ministry of Education signed on Wednesday two agreements with Oman Liquefied Natural Gas Company (Oman LNG) to fund projects that support science, knowledge, research and innovation in Oman.

The first agreement is on developing the Scientific Exploration Centre in the Governorate of North Al Sharqiyah. The centre targets raising awareness on the importance of using renewable energy, particularly hydropower, hydrogen, wind and solar energy in reducing environmental risks.

The second agreement is on funding a training programme for 320 students in several science and innovation centres in the governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, South Al Sharqiyah and Al Dhahirah.

This project aims to locate and utilize new ideas in the fields of web designing, artificial intelligence (AI) and software applications.

The two agreements were signed by Majid Said al Bahri, the Ministry of Education’s Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs and Dr Amor Nasser al Matani, CEO of Oman LNG.
