Dhofar beat Al Rustaq, Al Nasr consolidate top spot

Dhofar defeated Al Rustaq 4-0 on Sunday night at Al Saada Sports Complex in the fourth week of 2021/2022 Omantel League.


The triumph meant moving of Salalah giants to second place at ten points while Al Rustaq remained on four points. Yazeed al Mashani, Khalid al Hajri, Qasim Said and Faisal al Qasmi netted Dhofar goals.


Al Ittihad and Saham hope to taste their first win in this season dashed as both teams ended their match in a 1-1 draw on Sunday.


At Sohar Sports Complex, the draw remained the same for both teams in the table bottom with two points after completion of the fourth week of 2021/2022 Omantel League.


Younis al Mushaifri put Al Ittihad team ahead while Wajdi al Lamaki equalised for Saham.


The other game between Al Musannah and Bahla finished also at 1-1 draw. At Al Rustaq Sports Complex, Adeir Wali scored for Bahla while Sameh al Hasani equalised for Al Musannah. The draw kept both teams in the middle table with seven points for each team.


In the other early games of week four played on Saturday, League leaders, Al Nasr, strengthened its grip at the top as they defeated the hosts Al Suwaiq 2-1 at Al Rustaq Sports Complex.


The triumph marked the fourth successive victory for Salalah’s representative team to strengthen in the top by 12 points. Al Nasr’s Hamed al Habsi gave his team the lead while Oman former national football player Said al Ruzaiqi netted the winner.


Welmerson struck the consolation goal for the hosts. The win raised Al Nasr’s tally to 12 points in the first place while north Batinah team remained in their previous four points.


Al Suwaiq board decided to end the contract with the Austrian coach Mladen Posavec after three weeks from the league start. Coach Qasim al Mujaini led the team against Al Nasr’s fixture.


Seeb was held to a goalless draw by Nizwa at the latter’s home in Nizwa Sports Complex. Muscat based team strikers could not manage to penetrate the strong defence of the hosts to score any goals.


With the draw, Nizwa snatched a point and reached their second point in the league while Seeb were at eight points.


Al Nahdha returned to the winning ways after Seeb’s defeat in the previous week. Juma Saeed’s team-mates beat Sohar 4-1 at the Al Buraimi Sports Complex.


The match was dominated by the hosts in both halfs. Bernard scored the opening goal for Al Nahdha in the 36th minute and Juma Saeed netted the second goal from penalty in the 51st minute.


Sami al Hasani increased the margin for Al Buraimi team as he struck third goal. Sohar’s Hassan al Ajmi reduced the gap as he scored the consolation goal but Ali Dhai raised the margin to four as he scored fourth goal which ended the match by 4-1.


The win took Al Nahdha to nine points while Sohar suffered the second defeat in the league and freezed at four points.
