MoSD to disburse cash assistance for affected families in Sur

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Social Development in cooperation with public and private establishments and individuals, this week starts disbursing cash assistance to families whose houses were affected by heavy rains and flash floods that hit the Wilayat of Sur in mid-July, according to Hasib bin Zahran al Amri, Director-General of Social Development in the governorates of North and South Al Sharqiyah and supervisor of the relief and sheltering sector.


The official affirmed that all families that were evacuated to sheltering centres have returned to their houses apart from only two families who are temporarily living in rented houses until their houses are repaired.


Some 386 houses were directly affected by the heavy rain in Sur, Al Amri said adding that the ministry of Social Development, represented by the Directorate-General of Social Development in the governorates of North and South Al Sharqiyah, continue to work with public and private partners and philanthropists to cope with the devastation wreaked by heavy rains and flash floods which occurred in the Wilayat of Sur in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate.
