Branko Ivankovic, Oman national football team head coach, has called up 29 players for the second part of the overseas camp in Dubai which will take place from May 16 to 30.


The list saw the return of talented youngster Al Mundher al Alawi, who was absent for long period due to knee injury, Qatar’s Al Murkhyia player Jameel al Yahmadi, Omran al Hedi and Khalid al Buraiki. These players replaced Yousef al Shiyadi, Omar al Malki, Ahmed al Khamisi and Abas al Hashmi.


The forthcoming preparatory external camp is part of the team’s preparation for the joint qualification of the 2022 Fifa World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup Championship. Dubai camp will feature two preparatory matches against Asian sides Thailand and Indonesia on May 25 and 29 respectively. It is expected that both friendly matches will identify the kick off list for the qualifier games. Also, coach Ivankovic will implement many tactical training sessions in this warm-up camp like the first phase of the camp which focused on the fitness and physical aspects.


Three more games are left for the 'Red Warriors' in the joint World Cup and AFC Asian qualifiers. Oman will play against Qatar on June 7 at Al Sadd club’s Jassim bin Hamed Stadium in Doha. They will take on Afghanistan on June 11 and will face Bangladesh in the concluding match on June 15 at the same venue in Doha.


Oman are currently positioned second in Group E with 12 points while Asian champions Qatar are topping the group with 13 points from five games. Afghanistan are placed third with four points. India (3 points) and Bangladesh (1 point) are in the third and fourth positions respectively.


Oman players for the Dubai camp: Fayez al Rushaidi, Ahmed al Rawahi, Ibrahim al Mukhaini, Khalid al Buraiki, Omran al Hedi, Essam al Subhi, Fahmi Said, Juma al Habsi, Abdulaziz al Ghilani, Ali al Busaidi, Ahmed al Kaabi, Jameel al Yahmadi, Arshad al Alawi, Abdullah Fawaz, Mohammed al Musalami, Harib al Saadi, Yazeed al Mashani, Amjad al Harthi, Zaher al Aghbari, Salah al Yahyaei, Omar al Fazari, Mohsin Jawher, Yaseen al Shiyadi, Abdulaziz al Maqbali, Mohammed al Ghafri, Khalid al Hajri, Mohsin Al ghassani, Saud al Habsi and Al Mundher al Alawi.
