The Committee for registration of pharmaceutical companies and pricing of medicines held its third meeting for 2021 to review the availability of some medicines in the local market.

The approved requests to register 36 new drugs after they fulfilled all the conditions and procedures including the scientific evaluation of the contents of these drugs and their uses, as well as the evaluation of bioequivalence studies for some of them, in addition to conducting chemical, physical and biological analyzes to ensure their conformity with the standard specifications.

The committee has approved the prices of these medicines, as it agreed to the prices provided by the companies for the number of three medicines due to the need of the medicine market and the lack of alternatives to them. It also adopted lower prices than those offered by the manufacturers for about 29 medicines after reviewing and comparing the prices offered to the Sultanate with those in other countries.

In line with other countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the committee has postponed registering four drugs and requested new price certificates from them.

During the meeting, the committee reviewed the prices of six new medicines from a number of international companies and decided to reduce the prices of these medicines.

The Committee for the Registration of Drug Companies and their Products and the Pricing of these Products also agreed to re-register 86 drugs and review their prices, as it was approved to reduce the prices of 20 medicines and re-register the rest of the medicines while keeping their previously registered prices the same.
