SALALAH, July 17 - The Second Arab Forum for Women Entrepreneurs is to cover wider areas of entrepreneurship as the participants are likely to get business tips from successful business persons from many countries.
As of now, 220 participants from the Gulf, Arab and Asian countries have confirmed attendance for the forum which is to be held from August 8 to 10 at Rotana Salalah Resort.
The hugely successful first forum, and positive feedback from the participants encouraged the forum organisers to go ahead with the second forum with support from Public Authority for Small and Medium Industries (SMEs) and Directorate of Tourism in Dhofar.
Amna bint Khadem al Awadi, Chairperson of the Organising Committee and the General Supervisor of the Second Arab Forum for Women Entrepreneurs, said this year’s forum would be organised under the theme of ‘Towards global entrepreneurship’, which is very close to ongoing Salalah Tourism Festival’s slogan of ‘Oman prosperity and development.’
“We have gathered support from the General Authority for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises; Salalah Tourism Festival; and World Youth Business Club has agreed to participate,” she said.
The forum would have a large number of businesswomen, entrepreneurs, decision-makers, leaders and stakeholders ranging from consultancy, planning, finance, banking and governmental support agencies.
This year’s forum, according to her, will focus on how women entrepreneurs can participate in economic development through supporting start ups and converting them into successful business models.
Mohammed bin Ahmed al Ghassani, Director of the Public Authority for SMEs in Dhofar, expressed happiness over the forum’s second edition being held in Salalah for the second consecutive year.
“I hope this forum would give right direction to the entrepreneurs, who constitute as an important milestone for the economic development of the country.”
“The Second Arab Forum for Women Entrepreneurs is the endorsement of what the first forum did last year. It was successful that is why we thought about organising the second forum. This forum is a true embodiment of the partnership between the public and private sectors, which everyone aspires to achieve because of the positive impact that benefits both the sectors by developing the capabilities and achieving desired developmental goals,” he said.
Al Ghassani confirmed that the ground for the Second Arab Forum for Women Entrepreneurs is ready. “We hope this to be more fruitful than the previous one, as new elements have been added and the main organising committee of the forum and the supporting bodies are better exposed this year. I wish success to this forum and achieve the desired goal in revitalising the economic and commercial movements between entrepreneurs and businessmen and creating real opportunities for partnership and development.”
In his message, Khalid al Balushi, President of the World Youth Business Club, said such forums create international partnerships and exchange expertise among all participants, and play a role in supporting young men and women in the Arab world.
“These forums are the largest contributors in developing entrepreneurs in the region and the Arab world because they are important in presenting topics of interest from experts and decision-makers and specialists,” he said.
