CAIRO: The first preparatory meetings for the 28th ordinary Arab Summit, which will be held on Wednesday under the chair of King Abdullah II of Jordan, will begin on Thursday at the Dead Sea Resort in Jordan. The meeting of senior officials of the Economic and Social Council will be held to prepare agenda that will be referred to the ministerial meeting at the ministerial level on Sunday, foremost of which relates to the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, the Customs Union and the Arab Common Market, the promotion of investments, transport network. The Summit is expected to discuss a number of issues including the Palestinian issue, the Syrian crisis, the situation in Iraq and Libya, combating extremism and terrorism, activating joint Arab action and unifying Arab ranks in the face of current challenges.
