MUSCAT: The State Council and Majlis Ash’shura participated on Wednesday in the proceedings of the 4th session of the 3rd conference of the second legislative chapter of the Arab Parliament in Cairo, chaired by Mishaal bin Fahm al Salami, President of the Arab Parliament.

Mishaal bin Fahm al Salami, during the opening of the session, congratulated Shaikh Sultan bin Saeed al Barkani on his election as President of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Yemen.

He added that the opening of the session coincides with very sensitive Arab developments, huge challenges and difficulties in the Arab world, noting that there is no way to confront them except with solidarity and unity of Arab countries.

The meeting discussed many reports, including the report of the Committee of Palestine, and the reports of the standing committees of the Arab Parliament, as well as made a review of the demands of the Arab Parliament from the 5th Afro-Arab summit to be held in Saudi Arabia by the end of this year.

Despite the challenges that the Arab nations are facing, he said, the Palestinian cause would remain the first and pivotal issue. He affirmed that the Arab world would continue to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people so that their legitimate rights for the establishment of their independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital, can be achieved.

Mishaal bin Fahm al Salami expressed his appreciation for the Arab Parliament members on their commendable efforts to serve the Arab nations, appreciated the work accomplished during the present parliamentary session and showed interest in the completion of efforts and initiatives in the next round of meetings.
