Arab-Israeli conflict discussed at Arab League Council meeting

CAIRO: Deliberations of the 149th session of the Arab League Council at the level of the permanent delegates began at the Arab league’s HQs’ on Sunday.


The session is being held under the chairmanship of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to prepare for the session’s meetings at the level of foreign ministers, due to be held on March 7, Wednesday.


The Sultanate is represented in the meeting by Dr Ali bin Ahmed al Eisaei, Sultanate’s Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and its Permanent Delegate to the Arab League.


The session discussed several items, including the political developments of the Palestinian issue, the Arab-Israeli conflict and the activation of the Arab peace initiative, in addition to the Israeli developments and violations in the occupied City of Jerusalem and settlement developments.


It also discussed the separation wall, the uprising, prisoners, refugees and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).


Furthermore, the session also discusses the crises in Syria, Libya, Yemen, Iraq and Arab cooperation with regional and international blocs, besides discussing the conduct of a new Arab methodology in dealing with the file of declaring the Middle East free from weapons of mass destruction.
