Arab Health Ministers Council meets

CAIRO: The Sultanate participated on Thursday in the forty-ninth session of the Arab Health Ministers Council, which was held at the headquarters of the Arab League under the chairmanship of Jordan.


The Sultanate’s delegation in the session was led by Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health.


The Arab Health Ministers and representatives of international and regional organisations, federations and Arab councils specialised in various health fields participated in the session.


The session discussed several items, most notably the unification of health legislations in the Arab countries, the role of e-health and its importance in developing the health care system, the health of young people and the successful and pioneering experiences of the Arab Member States in the field of health and the theme of the Arab Health Day 2018.


It also discussed enhancing the role of nursing and midwifery in the Arab countries, the Arab nurses’ union request to obtain observer status in the Arab Health Ministers Council, the unified speech of the Arab Health Ministers Council before the 71st session of the WHO General Assembly in Geneva next May. — ONA
