MUSCAT: The Board of Trustees of the Colleges of Applied Sciences held its second meeting for the academic year 2017-2018 under the chairmanship of Dr Rawya bint Saud al Busaidiya, Minister of Higher Education. The meeting followed the recommendations of the second meeting of the academic year 2016-2017 and discussed the results of the performance indicators project for the colleges of applied sciences. The board commended the results achieved by the colleges and directed them to work on benefiting from the results of the project to improve the work of the colleges and improve their efficiency and develop a remedial plan for some indicators.
It was also agreed to present these results to the Academic Council of Colleges of Applied Sciences. The meeting issued a decision to establish a Business Management Department in Ibri College of Applied Sciences. The board reviewed the efforts of the Directorate-General of Colleges of Applied Sciences in raising the percentage of Omanisation in colleges in academic posts which reached 53.5 per cent in 2017. — ONA
