Muscat, Jan 20 - The campaign to eliminate Aedes aegypti mosquito themed “your cooperation… indicates your awareness,” which began on January 8, will be extended till Wednesday to cover more areas. The campaign, which is organised by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and Muscat Municipality, was scheduled to be concluded on Monday.
The Central Committee of Muscat Campaign for Elimination of Aedes aegypti mosquito said the field teams will visit the wilayats of Muttrah and Muscat from Monday to Wednesday
The campaign completed field visits to the Wilayat of Bausher, which included identifying breeding areas of mosquitoes, raising awareness about clean surroundings, fogging and spraying chemicals to stop breeding of mosquitos. Doctors, nurses, health educators and supervisors from the Ministry of Health along with workers from Muscat Municipality and the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources are participating in the campaign. Volunteers, walis, members of shura and municipal councils from the wilayat of Muscat Governorate are taking part in the drive. The campaign, since its launch till now, has received tremendous response from the people, which reflects awareness and keenness of the community members.
