Al Saadi to attend Asian Games opening

MUSCAT, August 15 - Shaikh Saad bin Mohammed al Saadi, the Minister of Sports Affairs, will travel on Thursday to Indonesia to attend the opening ceremony of the Asian Games which will be held during August 18 to September 2. The Asian Games will feature participation of more than 11,000 athletes competing in 40 sports and representing 45 countries. The minister’s programme in Indonesia will include attending the opening ceremony and to visit the athletes who are representing the Sultanate in the Games.


Oman are taking part in athletics, shooting, swimming, sailing, weightlifting, hockey, tennis, and beach volleyball. Also, the minister will have some meetings with top officials of the Asian Games. Shaikh Saad al Saadi wished all the best for the national teams who are taking part in the Asian Games for recording the best results. He appreciated all the efforts that have been taken by the Oman Olympic Committee and national associations for preparing the athletes through various training camps.
