Al Saadah Sports Complex close to completion

Salalah got closer to seeing a refurbished Al Saadah Sports Complex as Rashad bin Ahmed al Hinai, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Sports Affairs, visited the extension project of the stadium yesterday.


The visit was conducted in the presence of Moosa al Mashali, DG, Sports Affairs in Dhofar Governorate and Mohammed al Manwari, DG, Planning and Projects and a number of engineers and contractors involved in the project.


This site visit came under series of site visits that has been conducted to this project to keep a regular follow up with the contracting company.


Al Hinai got the latest update on the progress of the expansion project for the second stage in the stadium. He urged the contractor company to expedite the completion of the project according to the deadline of the project which is to be completed very soon.


Al Saadah Sports Complex project was started in August 2005 and the first stage included several facilities like football stadium that can accommodate more than 9,000 spectators, VIP area with three main entrances for the public and four special entrances for the teams. The first phase of the project also included a meeting room for press conferences.


The complex includes a hockey field that hosts all the competitions organised by Oman Hockey Association. In addition to that there is a tennis court, covered hall for football and basketball. The hall seats are enough for more than 500 spectators plus to 50 VIP seats and changing rooms for players.


Al Saadah New Complex will consists of an Olympic swimming pool designed as per international standards and specifications. The swimming pool can accommodate 500 people and there are 50 seats for senior guests and four changing rooms.


The second phase of the project will see an increase in the capacity of the spectators area from 9,000 to 18,000 seats.


A new green football turf will be the addition in terms of the expansion of the area of the current stadium.


Also, the inner perimeter of the stadium will be improved and there will be a new perimeter at the entrance of the stadium.
