MUSCAT, JUNE 9 - With temperatures to be around 31 degrees Celsius, against above 45 degrees in rest of the country, Salalah will be the most popular domestic destination this Eid. Amid reports of the airlines hiking prices, Oman Air issued statement on airfares to Salalah on Saturday. “The increase in ticket prices on some flights is due to extra demand during the holidays. Tickets for Salalah continue to be available for RO 61.9 (return) for departures from Muscat on June 12 and return on June 19,” the national airline said. It added that these fares are available for flights from Muscat on June 13 (until 9 am) and return on June 19.

Tickets for flights departing from Muscat on June 13 after 7 pm and returning from Salalah on June 19 are sold for RO 66.9, the airline said. Oman Air currently operates 56 weekly flights between Muscat and Salalah, which will increase to 91 flights between July 1 and September 15, giving guests more travel options at varying rates. The budget airline SalamAir is offering tickets for RO 51 under the light option, in which only 7 kg of hand baggage is allowed. Prices are at its peak at RO 29 (one-way) for June 12 (from Muscat and June 19 from Salalah), according to the company website. On an average, room rates for three-star hotels in Salalah start from RO 70 per night and above RO 110 per night for four to five-star hotels during holidays.
