AIB reports strong second quarter results

MUSCAT: Alizz Islamic Bank (AIB) has announced its second quarter results for 2017. The growth of the numbers is in line with the banks operating strategy to emhace the Islamic banking offering in the Sultanate.


The bank’s financing receivables reached RO 386.95 million registering a growth of 56.21 per cent when compared to the same period last year and growth of 23.71 per cent from the end of 2016. The deposits grew by RO 213.02 million from the same period last year, representing a growth of 100.31 per cent and by RO 134.35 million from the end of 2016 to reach RO 425.38 million.


Net operating income grew by 19.39 per cent when compared with the same period last year to reach RO 5.26 million. Due to the increase in income, stringent cost controls and strong monitoring of credit quality, the net loss of the bank reached RO 2.04 million.


The bank has achieved solid growth in core business activities and the credit quality of the financing portfolio remains strong.


The bank launched its new enhanced mobile & Internet banking platforms which have been positively received by customers through their overwhelming feedback. The bank also opened a branch in Barka, while two other branches are in the process of being opened in other parts of the Sultanate which will take the number of branches to 10 by the end of the year.
