Agreement to support research efforts

MUSCAT: The Research Council (TRC) on Tuesday signed a cooperation agreement with Oman Air. The agreement comes in line with the council’s objectives that target enhancing cooperation and partnership with the private sector’s establishments in the Sultanate in a bid to achieve goals and vision of the National Strategy for Scientific Research and support the efforts exerted to upgrade research system in the Sultanate. The agreement was signed from The Research Council by Dr Hilal bin Ali al Hinai, Secretary-General of the council, while it was signed from Oman Air by Abdulaziz bin Saud al Ra’eesi, Acting CEO of Oman Air.


The agreement’s signing comes to affirm both sides’ approach in enhancing partnership and supporting research activity in the Sultanate. Stemming from its role of corporate social responsibility (CSR), Oman Air’s strategy seeks to support research and contributes in building capacities in areas of research and development in the Sultanate. The secretary-general of The Research Council said in a press statement that Oman Air is a key partner and supporter for Omani job-seekers in general and youth category in particular. He added that the agreement would expand support areas for the Omani youths to take part in various international fora organised by The Research Council.


On his turn, the acting CEO of Oman Air pointed out that Oman Air, in cooperation with The Research Council, work for a while on this agreement that supports the Omani youths in scientific research as a national duty. The agreement also contributes in enhancing The Research Council’s efforts in building cooperation partnerships with various establishments of the private sector. — ONA
