Adam accident due to wrong overtaking

Muscat, July 29 - The Royal Oman Police (ROP) on Tuesday said the road accident near Qarn Al Alam in Adam was caused by “wrong overtaking”. It urged motorists to be cautious when overtaking for their safety.


Even as investigations into the Tuesday’s accident are on, the ROP said it has intensified its special safety campaign for motorists using Adam-Thamrait route.


Three people were killed and 13 were injured when three vehicles collided.


Two Emiratis nationals died on the spot following the accident, which was a result of an attempt to overtake from the wrong side. A Saudi woman died later, according to sources.


Both vehicles caught fire after ramming into each other while one of the vehicles than crashed into another car that had Omanis on board.
