9th Gulf camp for girl guides concludes

MUSCAT: Activities of the 9th Gulf Camp for Girl Guides concluded at the Sultan Qaboos Scouts Camp on Thursday. The ninth Gulf Girl Guides Camp organised by the Directorate-General of Scouts and Guides was held from February 2 to 7 with the participation of 300 guides. The Sultanate’s guides along with those from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Egypt took part in the camp.


The closing ceremony was led by Her Highness Sayyida Dr Basma bint Fakhri al Said, in the presence of Dr Yaqoub bin Khalfan bin Abdullah Al Naabi, Director-General of the Directorate General of Scouts and Guides and Mohammed al Houli, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council.


In her speech, Dr Basma said the meetings will have an effective impact on cohesion, harmony and the provision of many information and experiences, as well as exchange of views and ideas. These are aimed at developing the Scouting and Guidance Movement, she added.


The concert included musical display by the Royal Guard band in addition to similar performances by the band from the scouts.


In the end, the chief guest accompanied by the guides toured the various pavilions of the exhibition which highlighted the various activities of the camp and the achievements of the Gulf guides.
