93 applicants in race for integrated fuel stations

Muscat: The Ministry of Housing has short-listed 93 applications for developing integrated fuel stations in the Sultanate.


Applications will be evaluated to make sure they meet the specified requirements, following which it will be referred to the technical analysis team.


Bids will be awarded to applicants that meet both the required technical and financial specifications.


The maximum number of requests have been received for Al Suwaiq (53) followed by Saham (14), Liwa, (17) and Haima (6).


As per the bidding conditions, a detailed explanation of the project’s component areas in square metres should be provided, including a timeline showing stages of project implementation, preferably not exceeding two years from the date of signing the contract.


A preliminary economic feasibility study should be provided for the project with a commitment to management of facilities, general maintenance and cleanliness for all project facilities.


Priority will be given to those who provide an integrated and clear design and adhere to the required standards and conditions.


Apart from fuel stations, the facilities will include rest rooms, a mosque, a shopping centre, car service centre, restaurant, parks and parking lots that will stimulate economic activity through tourism traffic.


The criteria for participation in the bidding is the applicant should not own a fuel station anywhere in the country.


The ministry had constituted a committee comprising officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Supreme Planning Council for determining conditions and the price of bids before calling for the


auction.
