9 arrested for frankincense theft

SALALAH: Nine people, including three nationals, were arrested on charges of stealing a large quantity of frankincense from a warehouse in Salalah. The Department of Investigation and Criminal Investigation led by Dhofar police arrested them. According to the police, the suspects entered the farm late at night, assaulted the warehouse guard and stole the frankincense. They transported the stolen goods in a rented truck.


Following investigation, the accused were arrested. They confessed to the crime. The case has been referred to the judicial authorities for completion of investigation.


HELD FOR ASSAULT: An Asian national was arrested from Zabadiyah in Muttrah for allegedly assaulting an Asian expatriate with a weapon following some differences between them.He was arrested by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) team.


The victim, who suffered minor injuries, was sent to a hospital for treatment.


WORKERS INFO GO ONLINE: The Ministry of Manpower has completed the process allowing registration of both domestic and Omani workforce on its website. The service will enable employers to record workers’ information for the first time through the ministry’s website or via Sanad offices.


Users can visit the ministry’s portal and register for the first time by providing their licence number. Companies can access details such as fines, if any, and pay the same online.
