MUSCAT: The Directorate-General for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances at Al Wusta Governorate Police Command arrested two people on charges of possessing and using drugs in the Wilayat of Haima. The police recovered captagon pills that were found in the possession of the accused. The defendants were referred to the Public Prosecution after taking legal action. A Coast Guard patrol from the Dhofar Governorate Police Command seized a smuggling boat and arrested three people of Arab nationality who were on board for possessing 11 boxes and bundles of khat. The accused were arrested 6 nautical miles off Wilayat of Mirbat following a chase operation.
The boat was towed to the port where the defendants were handed over to the Directorate-General for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances at Dhofar Governorate Police Command. In a separate case, a Coast Guard patrol from Musandam Governorate seized a boat with two Asian people on board and confiscated 31 bags filled with liquor. The boat was impounded at Khasab Port along with the seized items and the defendants were handed over to the Directorate of Customs in Musandam.
