MUSCAT: A study published by the Ministry of Social Development on drug use among children and youth in Oman has revealed that 71 per cent of those surveyed took drugs for the first time with friends and 55 per cent said they began using drugs with same-age peers. The study showed that a number of drug users have continued to use drugs even after they underwent drug addiction treatment. It also showed that the youngest drug user was as young as 12 years old and that children and youths represent 69 per cent of drug users registered at the national register for drug users.
