MAHDHA: The Ministry of Transport and Communications on Monday opened the 60-km Mahdha-Al Rawdha highway in the Governorate of Al Buraimi. The road was opened to traffic during an inspection visit by Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications, in the presence of Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Governor of Al Buraimi Governorate. Commenting on the opening, Al Futaisi said the road constitutes as a new addition to the national road network noting that the road was designed in accordance with the international standards and it will facilitate the movement of passengers and goods and stimulate trading activities. The road stretches from Madal area in the Wilayat of Mahdha to the Niyabat of Al Rawdha. It has two lanes in each direction, four overpasses one of was designed to facilitate the vehicular movement on the Al Rawdha-Dubai road. — ONA
