Muscat: The International Council of Arbitration for Sport (ICAS) has appointed Shaikh Abdulwahhab bin Abdullah al Hinai, Chairman of Oman Dispute Resolution and Arbitration for Sport Committee, as arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) which counts nearly 390 members from 87 countries who may be called upon at any time to serve on arbitral panels. Al Hinai was selected due to his distinguished career and experience and knowledge in arbitration and sports-related laws. The CAS is based in the city of Lausanne, Switzerland, and is independent of any other sports organisation. Nearly 300 sports cases are filed before the court every year. It is noteworthy that Shaikh Abdulwahhab al Hinai has also been selected as member of the Ethics Commission of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) at the ANOC General Assembly held in Tokyo, Japan, from 27–29 November 2018.
