4,628 nationals get jobs in private sector

SALALAH: Statistics from the Ministry of Manpower, represented by the Directorate General of Manpower in the Governorate of Dhofar, stated that 635 citizens were appointed in various private sector companies in the Governorate of Dhofar in January, including 246 job-seekers with qualification less than the General Education Diploma (GED), 311 with GED and its equivalent, 37 with university diploma, 40 with college degrees, one with Master Degree.


Statistics from the ministry also indicated that 4,628 citizens were appointed during 2018 in the governorate, including 1,656 with qualification less than the GED, 2,126 with GED and its equivalent, 431 with university diploma, 397 with college degrees, 13 with Master Degrees and 4 with PhD were appointed.


The directorate confirmed that it is continuing to provide job opportunities for Omanis by inviting them for interviews. The ministry is also conducting tests and interviews every week for job-seekers.


On Sunday, the Ministry of Manpower extended the ban on hiring expat workers to a number of professions for another six months.


According to Article 1 of the Ministerial Decision 73/2019, the recruitment freeze, which has been in force since January 28, 2018, will continue for six more months. “The ban on hiring expat manpower in the private sector shall continue for a period of six months,” said a statement quoting the ministerial decision. — ONA
