3 students from Shinas to compete in IT contest

MUSCAT, Dec 2 - Three students of the Technical College of Shinas qualified to compete in an IT competition launched by Huawei Communications Company, which was launched in the Sultanate in September this year under the patronage of Dr Muna al Jardaniyah, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Manpower for Technical Education and Vocational Training, at Sultan Qaboos University.


The winners of the competition will be represented by students from the participating countries.


The students of the Information Technology Department at the Technical College of Shinas received three of the five centres. While, Afra bint Saif al Kaabiya came second, Marwan bin Abdullah al Saifi was placed third, while Aisha bint Khamis al Husaniyya ranked fifth.


The competition was aimed at exposing student talent in IT specialising in networking in the Middle East. The first round of the competition was held in mid-October and included more than 200 students from various educational institutions in the Sultanate. The final test was conducted at the Technical College.


The winners of the Technical College in Shinas also qualified them to participate and compete in the Middle East, where they will represent the Sultanate as a team and the competition will be held in December this year in China.
