Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said there was a 13.4-per cent growth in the number of commercial activities registered in the Sultanate in the first quarter (Q1) of 2017 at 24, 973 compared to 2016.
The Governorate of Muscat accounted for around 26.2 per cent of the commercial activities followed by North Al Batinah with 18.9 per cent and Dhofar with 13.3 per cent. There was a 105.6-per cent growth in commercial activities in the Governorate of Al Buraimi during the first quarter in 2017 compared to 2016, the ministry said.
The Governorate of Muscat registered the highest number of commercial activities (6,537) followed by North Al Batinah (4,722), Dhofar (3,329), Al Dakhiliyah (2,648), South Al Batinah (2,032), North Al Sharqiyah (1,563), South Al Sharqiyah (1,355), Al Dhahirah (1,208), Al Buraimi (1,034), Musandam (297) and Al Wusta (248) in the first quarter of 2017.
