MUSCAT, MAY 12 - The Takatuf Scholars Programme, a unit within Takatuf Oman, recognised 24 new Omani Takatuf Scholars and awarded ten of them prestigious international scholarships to attend leading boarding schools and universities in around the world, in three different continents. Designed to prepare Oman’s most talented young people for personal and professional success and a fast track to participating in achieving the Sultanate’s goals, the programme introduces the candidates to the skills and abilities required for success in learning as well as employability skills for the ever-changing global marketplace.

Under the auspices of Qais Mohammed al Yousuf, Chairman, Board of Directors, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the 24 young Omani students celebrated their completion of The Takatuf Scholars Enrichment Programme on Thursday at a recognition ceremony held at instOG, Muscat.

This recognition marks the point where the 2017 Takatuf Scholars become part of the Takatuf Scholars Network — a national and global network of over 340 bright young Omanis who have acquired the core competencies deemed necessary for success in both university and the 21st century workplace.

Through the Enrichment Programme they have not only demonstrated their intellectual potential for success; they have also shown that they can work hard at being team members as well as independent problem-solvers. The Takatuf Scholars are all role models whose next challenge is to further develop and hone their leadership skills.

The Programme’s effectiveness has been demonstrated through the performance of Scholars from all over the Sultanate in leading boarding schools as well as at some of the world’s most rigorous universities such as MIT, NYU, UBC, HKUST, Imperial College and University College London.

Shaikh Ibrahim al Harthi, managing director of Takatuf, commenting on the event said, “All of us in Takatuf are very proud of our students’ success. It is very rewarding to see the achievements of our Takatuf Scholars; achievements that go beyond offers from prestigious universities and academic results. It proves that we are on the right track to nurturing Oman’s future leaders.”
