Muscat: Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health, said the prices of medicines in the Sultanate are either consistent with their cost in the rest of the GCC states, or even cheaper. He said that last year a survey covering 200 commonly-used medicines in the region found that 57 per cent of the drugs covered by the survey were cheaper in Oman. He said that the 33rd meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) drug pricing committee, which was hosted by the Sultanate for three days, concluded in Salalah. The meeting discussed all ministerial and executive decisions on regulating the work of the committee and the objections submitted by drug companies.
