2 Omani graduates win silver medal for project on diabetes innovation

MUSCAT, Feb 18 - Salim al Habsi and Mohammed al Habsi, graduate students and presenters of SOMU team, won the silver medal for their project ‘Smart pharmacist system’ at an exhibition organised by the Kuwaiti Science Club. The project is a system that helps patients organise medicines, as it mainly benefits elderly people. Health Ruwad team got the silver medal for the diabetes innovation that contains many electronic advantages as well, which is mainly invented for elderly and people with special needs. The team was presented by Ishhar al Malkia, Ameera al Abria and Salim al Habsi.


The team innovators are nursing students from the University of Nizwa, whom are supervised by Salim al Habsi, the inventor.


Founder partner of SOMU Salim al Habsi expressed his appreciation to Khimji Ramdas Company represented by Ishraqa institution, for support during the event period. He also thanked Al Housni Omani Halwa for their help during the exhibition.


Salim also referred to the importance of innovation and the international participation, for its positive effect on attracting investors, to support the growth of the projects and young innovators, which will strengthen their self-esteem and eventually lead to the development of Oman and the whole world.


Ishhar al Malki, founding partner of Ruwad team, said: ‘My thanks goes to the University of Nizwa for the national and international support, also for Widad perfumes for all the presents.’


Ameera al Abria from the same team addressed the public and the private institutions to support young innovators, ease the way for their projects to bloom and help them succeed, to achieve the best results of these projects for a better world.


The international innovation exhibition in Kuwait is considered to be the first biggest exhibition in the Middle East and the second one in the world.


The event received marvellous support by Kuwait prince, Shaikh Sabah Al ahmed, and represented participation from over 35 country and 450 innovations from all over the globe.


The exhibitions main goal is to spread culture of innovation within the society and educational institutions. In addition to rise the quality and level of the participants, and improve their skills and abilities.


Over 42,000 people visited the international innovation exhibition which clearly indicates the importance of innovation and development.
