MUSCAT, Nov 26 - Two persons were killed in two separate road accidents in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah on Saturday.

According to a statement from Royal Oman Police (ROP), seven vehicles were involved in the first accident on Nizwa-Muscat Road at around 11 pm on Saturday.

“The driver of a vehicle lost control and rammed into six other vehicles. While one person died in the accident, the injured have been admitted to Nizwa Hospital,” said the ROP statement.

Mohannad al Rumidhi, a regular user of the road, said he could see a heap of cars after the “serial collision” with glass shards all over the road.

“It was unfortunate that the police cars, ambulance and Civil Defence staff found it difficult to reach the spot because some vehicles were blocking the route,” he said.

In another accident in Wadi Al Ouq nearly an hour later, one person was killed and four injured when a speeding truck collided with three other vehicles.

“A collision between a truck and three other vehicles in Wadi Al Ouq resulted in one death and injuries to four (expatriates),” said the ROP statement.
