Muscat: Eighteen thousand bottles containing alcoholic beverages were seized by Oman Customs in the Wilayat of Al Seeb and a truck driver arrested in this connection.

The bottles were hidden in water boxes in the truck.

In August, in the Muscat Governorate, Oman Customs seized 4,430 tablets of psychotropic substances. In addition, 6.8 kg of marijuana was seized.

More than 23,000 cigarettes were seized at the Wadi Saa borders in North Al Batinah Governorate and 3,090 cigarettes seized in Buraimi during the same period.

Police from the South Sharqiyah Governorate detained seven people on charges of possession of drugs in the Wilayat of Sur. Drugs and heroin were seized from them.

The accused were referred to the judicial authorities for further proceedings.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has urged the people to provide the police with any information that may help in the detection of smugglers and traffickers by calling 9999 or the General Directorate for Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances hotline 1444 or by heading to the nearest police station.
