By Staff Reporter — MUSCAT: Dec. 17: Oman Diabetes Association (ODA) on Saturday organised the Oman Diabetes Conference under the auspices of HH Sayyidah Dr Mona bint Fahd al Said, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University for External Cooperation, in the presence of Sayyid Taimur bin Asaad al Said, Honorary President of Oman Diabetes Society, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Qurum.

Held in cooperation with the National Diabetes and Endocrine Centre of the Royal Hospital, the conference was attended by more than 300 participants representing public and private medical institutions. The conference is aimed at exchanging expertise, discussing the latest developments in diabetes and allowing participants to engage in direct discussions with international researchers and experts.


The conference stressed on the importance of awareness and the use of latest technologies for diabetes treatment, preventing diabetes and how to deal with diabetes during pregnancy and puberty. Speaking at the conference Dr Ali bin Hilal al Miqbali said that 15 per cent of Omanis have diabetes, therefore concerted efforts are needed to limit the spread of the diabetes in the society.
