Over 15,000 voters registered for OCCI polls

MUSCAT: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) held a meeting at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s HQs’ under the chairmanship of Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Committee.


The committee discussed a number of topics the most important of which are the technical and technological preparations to equip election centres at the various governorates and ensure their readiness for the election process.


The Committee pointed out that the total number of voters who registered from starting registration up to Tuesday stood at 15,774 including 3,904 in the Governorate of Dhofar, 3,088 in the Governorate of Muscat, 2906 in the Governorate of North Al Batinah, 1952 in the Governorate of North Al Sharqiyah, 1693 in the Governorate of South Al Batinah, 674 in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah, 545 in the Governorate of Al Buraimi, 478 in the Governorate of Musandam, 345 in the Governorate of Al Dhahirah, 122 in the Governorate of Al Wusta and 67 in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah.


The naming of the companies’ representatives will expire on Thursday.


As per the provision of article 12 of ministerial decision No 225/2017, relevant parties may object the initial lists of voters within three days from their announcement.


The challenge may be submitted to the Appeal Committee on the designated form.


The decision, which will be made in three days from the date of submission, will be final.


The final lists of voters will be prepared after making decisions in all appeals. — ONA
