1,409 graduates from humanities receive degrees

MUSCAT: The second phase of the 28th graduation ceremony of Sultan Qaboos University was held Sunday evening at the Amphitheatre of the University under the auspices of Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah al Hinai, State Advisor.


The ceremony marks the graduation of the 9th batch of PhD graduates, the 22th batch of master’s degree holders, and the 28th batch of bachelor’s degree holders. In the second ceremony, 1,409 graduates from the three humanities colleges of the university received their degrees from the chief guest. The number of graduates from each college is as follows: The College of Law 236, the College of Arts & Social Sciences 668, and the College of Education 505.


Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dr Ali bin Saud al Bimani, the Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, that Sultan Qaboos University has accomplished many achievements at various levels, local and international. In terms of academic and institutional accreditation, the university has set up an executive committee to prepare the university report according to the requirements of the Omani Academic Accreditation Authority in the Sultanate (OAAA). The university has been able to collect the necessary data and complete the report and submit to OAAA. The College of Arts and Social Sciences achieved the institutional accreditation of the Agency for Quality Assurance (AQAS) for six years from July 2016 to September 2022.

He added that the Deanship of Graduate Studies at the University offers 98 degrees in the fields of medicine and health sciences, engineering, agricultural and maritime sciences, economics and political science, literature, social sciences, education, law, nursing and science. These programs are based on sound research base that emphasizes the quality of academic programs and addresses issues of national strategic importance. Dr Al Bimani added that 3,444 students graduated from the university with postgraduate degrees since the establishment of the university to date.
