By Kabeer Yousuf — MUSCAT: Feb 26 - In a move aimed at easing ministerial transactions and backing the Sanad Centres, 14 more government services would be offered through these centres. The Ministry of  Regional Municipalities and Water Resources (MRMWR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al Raffd Fund to introduce electronic services for 14 more public sector entities in pursuance of an earlier Royal Decree to this effect. The MoU was signed on Sunday by Hamad bin Suleiman al Gharibi, Under-Secretary of Regional Municipalities Affairs, MRMWR, and Tariq bin Salman al Farsi, Chief Executive Officer of Al Raffd Fund.

Al Gharibi said the number of services provided through these centres can be increased in the future. Sanad Centres have been catering to over 2,000 Omani youth since they were launched, according to Al Farsi. “It’s between the government services and beneficiaries comprising both locals and expatriates. There were proposals for 42 activities which were minimised to 14,” he told the Observer. “We have also signed an agreement with an insurance company to provide services through Sanad Centres. It will come into force soon.” From mid-2017, besides the municipal water system support services, services such as labour clearances, visa, building permits and trading permissions can be availed of through 620 Sanad Centres across the country.

Services of Ministry of Manpower, Royal Oman Police, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs, and Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs can also be availed of through these centres. Sanad Centres focus on the self-employment of Omanis by providing all necessary services under one roof under the supervision of Ministry of Manpower. The aim of these centres is to create gainful employment and business opportunities for the nation’s youth by delivering government and corporate services electronically.
