More than 1,200 students take part in youth festival

Indian Social Club (ISC) Oman’s Kerala Wing’s youth festival 2017, organised for the students in Indian schools and other Indian expatriates in Oman has completed its first phase, according to the organisers.


The festival, which began on January 28, has completed the stage events including musical and dance items and is now moving on to the literary and drawings events.


“More than 1,200 students from various Indian schools in Oman, participated in the colourful festival during the last two weeks and another 300 more are expected to take part in the coming days. During the last two weeks, all the stage events including light music, mappilappattu, drama song, bharathanatyam, mohiniyattam, group dance etc were presented by students. Among the Indian schools, students from the Indian School Darsait are ahead than others in terms of points scored”, a statement from the ISC Kerala Wing said.


The major items lined up for coming days are literary contests, painting and pencil drawing, which is scheduled on February 24, 2017.


Painting and pencil drawing will be conducted at Kerala Wing’s office at the Trade Centre, next to Atlas Hospital Ruwi from 9 am onwards. Literary items categorised under Malayalam and English will include essay, poem and short story writing for junior, senior and open category.


On-the-spot literary competitions will be held at ISC premises at Darsait from 1.30 pm onwards.


The registered participants will be intimated the time and venue directly by the wing officials. Spot entries are also accepted at the venue in addition to those already registered with Kerala Wing for the competitions.
