STATISTIC OF THE DAY: 50

Chris Froome retained the overall lead on Tuesday and will spend his 50th day with the yellow jersey on the Tour de France on Wednesday, matching the great Jacques Anquetil’s mark.

The record is held by Eddy Merckx with 96 days in yellow, ahead of Bernard Hinault (75) and Miguel Indurain (60).

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

“No problems at all. He knows that I lost my balance... he was the first to recognise it was in no way intentional. And when he attacked he did not know I had a problem and I accept that”

— Chris Froome, burying the hatchet with Fabio Aru after two incidents between them during Sunday’s ninth stage.

FACT OF THE DAY:

Yoann Offredo, who was in the day’s breakaway, hit out at rival teams for not sending riders ahead after he and fellow Frenchman Elie Gesbert formed a two-rider breakaway.

“Cycling is a game and I don’t have the feeling everyone is playing,” he said.
