100 expatriate women arrested on prostitution charges in Al Khuwair

MUSCAT: A total of 100 Asian and African women were arrested in Al Khuwair on charges of prostitution.
Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department of Bausher Police Station arrested the suspects after they were found soliciting in public places in Al Khuwair, said a Royal Oman Police (ROP) official.
The women were arrested, charged with the crime and referred to the Public Prosecution for legal procedures.
Drilling equipment theft: Some Asian nationals were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department, led by South Batinah police, on charges of stealing drilling equipment from a construction site on Batinah Expressway.
They were arrested and stolen equipment recovered from them. The matter has been referred to Public Prosecution for legal action.
Held for fraud: The Criminal Investigation Department at Bausher Police Station foiled an attempt by two African nationals to defraud an Arab national.
The two were arrested from their home and a range of tools used for fraud seized.
Cheating: In another case, an African national was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department on charges of cheating an Omani.
On receiving a complaint that he was cheated of RO 7,000, the man was arrested. On questioning, he confessed to the crime.
