Z-Corp honours Al Wafa Centre student on winning Arab award

MUSCAT: The Zubair Corporation (Z-Corp) recently honoured Safa bint Hamdan Al Salhiyah,  a student of Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children, Sohar who won the first place at the Arab Country level Shaikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum Award for Child Creativity held in Dubai. The prestigious award aims to inspire innovativeness, develop skills, further special capabilities and encourage creative ideas among children.


The event to honour the student, who won the top place in the caricature drawing category, was organised by the ‘collaboration team’ of Z-Corp which comprises of a group of employees of Z-Corp who participate in community initiatives which are planned and executed by them.


Khalid Muhammad al Zubair, Managing Director of The Zubair Corporation said, “It is a moment of pride for Oman that a child from the Sultanate has topped the contest and won the prestigious Arab level award. It is important to participate in such events since it enhances creative skills and improves knowledge. Such awards discover the innate talents among children, promotes healthy competitiveness and encourages positive thinking”.


He added, “We are proud of Safa’s achievement. Z-Corp attaches great importance to platforms that encourage children’s creativity and talent. I would also like to laud the Z-Corp’s ‘collaboration team’s endeavour in organising this event to honour this child.”


Maryam al Balushi, supervisor of the centre, said, “The country’s children are its future and it is imperative that we keep them engaged in activities such as this. We are delighted that our student has won this important Arab level contest where children participated to showcase their talent in various including portraits, photographs and caricature.”


Maryam added, “We are grateful to Z-Corp’s collaboration team for all their good work they do with us and the society. They have been doing amazing work.”


It may be recalled that to encourage children with disabilities and special needs, Z-Corp recently launched an art contest “I am gifted” at the Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children in Sohar.


The art contest is being organised by the ‘collaboration team’ of Z-Corp in association with Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children and Bait Al Zubair. The contest provides an exciting opportunity for children with disabilities and special needs from around North and South Al Batinah governorates to display their talent.  The aim of the contest is to encourage children with disabilities and special needs to participate and showcase their skill.
