Workshop throws light on relationship marketing

MUSCAT: Waljat College of Applied Sciences (WCAS) organised an International Workshop on ‘Relationship marketing and its challenges’ on February 21-22 to draw attention on the importance of acquiring customers and maintaining good relationship with them.


Prof Satyendra Singh of Winnipeg University, Canada was the keynote speaker of the workshop. Jokha bint Abdullah al Shukili, Director-General of Private Universities and Colleges, Ministry of Higher Education, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.


Dr Zuhoor bint Abdullah al Khanjari, Chairperson, Trustee Council, WACS welcomed the guests. WCAS Annual Report 2015-16 was also released on this occasion by the Chief Guest in presence of keynote speaker, Tanmay Vyomesh Mehta, Salem bin Nasser al Bortmany — Trustee Council members, SL Gupta, Dean, Dr Alok K Kushwaha, Asst Dean Academics and Zaid Khalifa Said al Shekili, Admin and HR Manager.


Another session of the workshop was conducted by Karthik Bhatnagar, Head of Knowledge Management at Bank Muscat on ‘Data analytics and relationship marketing’.


Sessions on second day were conducted by Dr Satyendra Singh where he focused on relationship marketing from customer point of view. The final session was taken by George Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of Middle East Management Consultancy. He shared his personal experiences on how relationship marketing works and how useful it is in maintaining customer relationships in any business.


The valedictory session was graced by Shaikh Salah Hilal al Mawali, Deputy Chief Executive Officer along with Otbah al Harmali from SME Development Fund and a Trustee Council member Saif al Shameli to give away the certificates to all the attendees.


Around 40 Delegates participated in workshop from various higher education institutions and companies which includes members from Areej Vegetables, Bishara, Modern College of Business Sciences, Caledonian College, Middle East College, and College of Banking and Finance. The workshop was well coordinated by a team comprising of Dr Seema Varshney, Sultan Khan and other staff and students under the guidance of Dr SL Gupta, Dean and Chair of International Workshop.
