MUSCAT: The Chairmen of the Board of Directors of the Military and Security Services Pension Funds together with the commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces visited the light ammunition factory in the Wilayat of Samayil to review the progress of work and the production line at the factory.

They were received by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defence who said in his speech that the factory has been set up to reduce reliance on imports. They were briefed on the project, the production line, the employment and rehabilitation, as well as the training programmes it has. They were also briefed on the available business opportunities for SMEs’ in the field of light ammunition.

The establishment of the factory, which is a closed joint stock company, comes in response to the Royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the Supreme Commander of Armed Forces and with direct investment from the military and security services pension funds. The training and rehabilitation programmes of the factory are carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Manpower. It should be noted that Omanisation rate at the plant is 100 per cent. — ONA
