Woman held for murder in Dhofar

By Staff Reporter — MUSCAT: April 5 - The criminal investigation team in Dhofar Governorate in cooperation with Salalah police have made an arrest in a murder case which took place in the governorate.


As per the official statement, the suspect, an Asian national, shot the victim at her residence with a traditional weapon following a dispute. The victim was taken to the Sultan Qaboos Hospital for treatment, where she died three days later.


In another case, police seized six vehicles in Shinas, which were modified for speeding. These vehicles, according to the official statement, caused grave danger to the drivers and other users including motorists.


The Royal Oman Police (ROP) called upon people to cooperate and communicate with the police station to eliminate this problem, which can often lead to fatal road accidents.


Meanwhile, following a hunt for a boat involved in illegal activities in the Omani territorial waters near Suwaiq, seven people were arrested for smuggling and infiltration.


The operation was carried out by a team of the Department of Narcotics Control and Psychotropic Substances, led by the police of North Batinah, a special team and the Coast Guard. Five infiltrators were arrested on arrival at the beach area in Suwaiq after they were dropped by the boat.


The Coast Guard team chased the boat that tried to escape and arrested the captain and his assistant.
