WFSO approves SQU academic as trainer

VALLETTA, Malta: The Malta-based World Food Safety Organization (WFSO) approved Dr Ismail bin Mohammed al Balushi from the Food and Nutrition Department at the College of Agricultural and Marine Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) as an approved trainer and representative for it. As per this accreditation, Al Balushi can provide WFSO food safety programmes, such as food handlers programme, the basics of food safety programmes and food safety system management programme. WFSO provides support to the European Union (EU) and the International Standards Organization (ISO) with regard to accreditation in the field of applying food safety management system.


It also provides a number of food safety training programmes that are up to the standards of the international organisations, such as Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Health Organization (WHO), and Food and Drug Administration of the US. Dr Ismail al Balushi presided over a number of scientific committees that organise conferences and seminars on food safety. He also took part in a number of training courses and seminars in this field. He chaired the organising and scientific committees of the conferences and organising committees on food safety at SQU.
